Marina Papagayo in Papagayo, Costa Rica, with Ocean Club charter boats on the water

Guanacaste · Marina Papagayo

Papagayo Charters

Deep water, calm bay, forty minutes from the airport.

Sailing from Papagayo

Why people come to Papagayo.

Marina Papagayo sits inside Bahía Culebra, which means protected water on the days the rest of the coast is lumpy, and a deep-water basin that takes boats most Costa Rican marinas cannot. It is the shortest run from an international arrival at Liberia to a line in the water or a drink on the foredeck, and it is where our catamarans and larger yachts are happiest.

Season: Calmest water December through April. Offshore sailfish run strongest May through September. Papagayo winds can blow hard December through March — we plan departures around them rather than pretending they aren't there.

Getting here: About 40 minutes from Liberia (LIR), or roughly 4.5 hours from San José. Tell us where you are staying and we will sort transport to the dock.

Departures: Marina Papagayo. You get the exact vessel, berth and meeting time in your written confirmation — we do not leave you wandering a marina at 5am looking for a boat name.
